ALLIUM

Broadleigh Gardens offer one of the largest ranges of Allium bulbs on the net. These are available for delivery next spring and autumn delivery from our Online Ordering section of the website. (Please see below for the types of bulbs available when).

SECTION 1. SPRING DESPATCH

The bulbous alliums will be found in our autumn catalogue. Those listed below are semi evergreen and flower in late summer. They can be grown in any soil, in sun or part shade. See Spring catalogue for full descriptions and prices.

SECTION 2. AUTUMN LIST: bulbous alliums

These alliums are summer flowering and are despatched as dormant bulbs during the autumn. See the Autumn Catalogue for full descriptions. All Alliums require a well drained soil in full sun. This is just a sample of our range. Alliums are available in season from our Online Ordering page.

Dramatic drumstick variety with deep rose-centred white flowers. Sweet scent!

Small dense balls of deep sky-blue on wiry stems. Wonderful with pink Oenothera Siskiou at Wisley.

Exceptionally large heads of golden-yellow, often two to a bulb. A great improvement on Moly. Award of Merit 1986.

Huge heads of lovely star-like lilac flowers, each with a metallic sheen. Dries well. Excellent towards the front of a sunny border.

Large heads of white flowers on stiff stems. Good middle of the border plant.

Open heads of white, scented, lace-like flowers. Good for cutting. Mass for best effect.

A superb, deep purple A. cristophii hybrid with 5" umbels of glistening, rather metallic flowers. Later flowering than most.

Similar to aflatuense but with intense purple-violet flowers. Quite striking.

A very beautiful species with rose-red flowers on long pedicels of varying length, like a fireworks sparkler. Needs a sheltered position.

A very ornamental plant with broad grey-green leaves and dense flowers of dull pink.

Most unusual flowers in loosely hanging umbels of up to thirty green bell-shaped florets flushed with purple. Ideal for flower arrangements.

Similar to the above but with white flowers that are a good foil for the broad grey leaves. Recommended.

Small flame-shaped heads of intense reddish-mauve. Very effective when massed in tight clumps in a sunny border.

One of the most striking North American Alliums. Dense heads of clear pink.

Dark violet, starry flowers with contrasting white stamens. A Chelsea favourite and one of the earliest to flower.
